A complex world

All living things are connected, through our shared biology and evolutionary history. Science recognises that biological systems, like our bodies and the environment, are made up of complex relationships. Every part only makes sense when seen in relationship to the whole.

As humans, we are also connected to ways of seeing the world, to science, culture, and spirituality. Sometimes it seems like other people's ideas come from their culture, while our own are just common sense. In fact, we are all connected to values that affect the way we see the world.

Our present society has been shaped by the choices we've made in the past, and the future will be affected by the choices we make now. So we are also connected through our history, the decisions we make, and the possibilities for our future.

All of these many connections have a place in our discussion about transferring human genes.
