Bioethics Council Progress Report

The Bioethics Council's role is to;

  • Provide independent advice to the Government on biotechnological issues involving significant cultural, ethical, and spiritual dimensions.
  • Promote and participate in public dialogue on the cultural, ethical and spiritual aspects of biotechnology, and enable public participation in the Council's activities.
  • Provide information on the cultural, ethical and spiritual aspects of bioetechnology.

This report aims to give readers an overview of the work of Toi te Taiao: the Bioethics Council, its development since the first meeting in December 2002, and the issues it considers.
