Welcome

Toi te Taiao: New Zealand's Bioethics Council, was formed with the aim of enhancing New Zealand's understanding of the cultural, ethical and spiritual aspects of biotechnology, and ensuring that the use of biotechnology has regard for New Zealanders' values.

Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, a, tēnā koutou katoa.

On this website you can learn about bioethics, and about the Council and its work. You can also join our mailing lists.

Pre-birth testing

The Council would like to thank everyone who took part in the public deliberation on ‘Who gets born? Pre-birth testing’. The Council is currently considering what it heard and developing its advice to the government. Learn more about the project.
